After more than two decades of development, Hakka studies has become an interdisciplinary research field, and the research topics in the field are increasingly diverse. Member institutions of GHAS and related scholars were invited to review and compare the academic achievements of Hakka studies in Taiwan and other countries and regions in order to systematically reveal and evaluate the theories and methodology of Hakka studies.
This year we invited two keynote speakers: Professor Wei-an Chang from NYCU delivered a speech on “A Second Thought on the Hakka Ethnic Theory: An Approach of Sociology of Knowledge” and Dr. Jessieca Leo gave a talk on “Hakka on the Move: Global Hakka Identity Remaking”. Both keynote speakers demonstrated how they engage in global Hakka studies from a multidisciplinary perspective. The two-day conference proved its success by having a total of 43 presentations and nearly 100 participants online and on site.
